My Favorite Things opened in July of 1986 as a small country gift shop. Initially it was a one-woman operation, but we soon outgrew the tiny building, moved down the street to our present location and added a small staff.
Thanks to our growing base of loyal customers and great staff, in 1988 we increased the store's retail space and added a full-service florist. Our unique blend of merchandise has made it a florist unlike most others. We have the capability of putting together combinations of flowers, plants, gifts, candy and balloons that are almost unheard of at "normal" flower shops. Over the years we continued to make small increases in our retail space, adding new product categories along the way. We also began hosting a number of special "happenings" that were so popular they've become annual events.
In 1994 we made our final brick and mortar expansion, allowing for the addition of a crafts department. At first we concentrated on tole painting in the new section, but we soon discovered Memory Books. With the explosive growth of supplies available, and our growing addiction to the craft, everything else got edged out!
Our goal has always been to provide a fun, cozy place to find "out of the ordinary" gifts and home décor. As soon as you walk in the front door, you know you're in for a treat! The store is filled with the wonderful scents of candles, potpourri, flowers and chocolate! If we could bottle the scent we'd be rich! We play a variety of music that helps create a very comfortable atmosphere. These, combined, with an interesting blend of merchandise (much of which is produced on-site), and a staff of friendly, helpful ladies, serving loyal customers have been our formula for success. Our product mix changes as fun, new things come on the market, but we never change our commitment to excellence in all that we do.
In 2000, we "went global", adding a basic web site. In 2001 we opened our second-generation web site that was much more comprehensive. Our most recent "total rebuild" of our site began in January 2008. Based on customer suggestions, we are expanding our "shopping" and "store tour" sections. If you're ever cruising up or down I-5 in Northern California, be sure to get off at the central Mt. Shasta exit and see us in person. We are located right on the main drag- 311 N. Mt. Shasta Blvd. You will be pleasantly surprised to find a store like this in such a small town!
